AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR ‘USE OF HELMETS’  
  Awareness programme for ‘Use of Helmets’ was addressed by Dr.Mahesh Karandikar at a public forum arranged by Jaycees group, Nashik.
     
SPECIAL TASK GROUP TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY OF THE ROAD COMMUTERS  
  Special task group was formed by the Commissioner of Police, Nashik along with the Mayor to regulate the traffic, and improve the safety of the road commuters and hence decrease the fatalities due to road accidents.

Dr.Mahesh Karandikar was invited as an expert to address this group regarding the medical aspects involved in road traffic accidents.
     
ROAD SAFETY WEEK  
  Road safety week is planned every year from 2005 onwards along with Nasik Traffic Police, RTO Nasik and NGO's.

Various awareness campaigns are conducted for various groups of people.

HEALTH EDUCATION & TREATMENT CAMPS  
  Karandikar Medical & educational trust regularly conduct health education and treatment camps.

A free check up camp on ‘Backache’ was arranged along with exhibition on care of the back and talks were given by various Specialists regarding back care Diet and exercise.

Dr.Mahesh Karandikar explained the anatomy, course of the disorders of spine and updating the gathered public on newer modalities to correct and prevent back problems.

PREMIER RELEASE OF “KADACHIT”  
  Renowned Bollywood actress Ashwini Bhave made a comeback to the Indian Cinema with her superhit movie ‘Kadachit’. The script writing received medical guidance from Dr.Mahesh Karandikar as she played the role of a successful neurosurgeon and the film was partly screened at the Karandikar Hospital and Research Centre in July 2007.

EPILEPSY AWARENESS PROGRAMMES CONDUCTED BY KARANDIKAR TRUST : SHWAS  
  Epilepsy is not only a medical issue but brings with it social drawbacks to the patient and the family.

Epilepsy awareness programmes are conducted by Karandikar trust.

SHWAS a self help group was formed for people with epilepsy, their families and those who wish to contribute their services towards the betterment of lives of epileptics.

SHWAS means breath, this group is working towards a goal where every patient with epilepsy lives a life without the social stress of suffering.

WORKSHOPS & HEALTH AWARENESS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS  
  Geriatric population is increasing over the years.

Health problems, paralysis, back problems, memory disorders, gait disorders and mental health problems form a majority of the difficulties faced in this age group.

Workshops and health awareness for senior citizens are conducted at the hospital.

ACTIVITIES FOR UNDERGRADUATES OF VARIOUS BRANCHES OF MEDICINE  
  Karandikar Hospital & Educational trust organizes activities for undergraduates of various branches of medicine on a range of topics related to medicine and Medical ethics.

OSTEOPOROSIS AWARENESS CAMP  
  Osteoporosis camp was arranged at Karandikar Hospital & research Centre in June 2008.

Free bone density estimation was done for patients from all age groups.

Their risk scores were given and further investigations, treatment and Counseling was done for those in the high risk zone.

ADOLESCENT HEALTH AWARENESS ACTIVITIES : YUVA CAFE  
  Adolescent Health Awareness Activities are conducted by Karandikar Trust.

YUVA CAFE, a multidisciplinary service offered to the teenage group in the form of medical checks, dietary advice, psychological counseling by means of workshops, symposia and a variety of youth related activities.

The service was launched by Renowned Dermatologist and writer, Dr. Mhaskar and Dr. Gogate alongwith Dr. Gauri Karandikar.

YASHODEEP MEANING LIGHT OF SUCCESS  
  A weeklong camp in May 2005 for teenagers aged 10-15 years .

A number of topics like health, hygiene, menstruation, concentration, exercise were dealt with the aim of stressing the fact that Success and Health go hand in hand.

ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOLS  
  Girls and boys from a number of schools and from different socio-economic strata were addressed to through a series of activities, conducted by Dr. Gauri Karandikar and her team.

Health, Diet, Stress, Reproductive Health, Issues of Sexuality were dealt with through interactive and interesting sessions.

HEALTH CHECKING CAMPS & CANCER SCREENING PROGRAMMES  
  Menopause is a time of change for women which can be a cause of distress for some of them.

Health check up camps and cancer screening programmes for women above 35 were conducted by the Trust at Karandikar Hospital

YOGIC EXERCISES & CAMPS  
  Yoga and Back Health : This has worked to an advantage for those suffering from long standing backache and those who are high risk for surgery.

Yoga and Epilepsy : This ongoing project deals with yoga therapy for people with epilepsy.

Yogic exercises, meditation and its advanced practices have been beneficial to a number of people with epilepsy in the form of decreased frequency of attacks, coping skills and personality changes for a better quality of life.

Delegates from Kazakistan visited the hospital and appreciated the work and role of Yoga as an additional form of therapy.
